Job Summary: The primary role of the Associate Attorney in Family Law is to provide legal services to clients by managing litigation cases and resolving legal disputes on behalf of clients including matters such as Divorce/Legal Separation, Parentage/Paternity, Child Support, Guardianship of a Minor and other related matters. The Associate Attorney oversees Paralegals and non-legal staff on a case-by-case basis for compliance and efficiency.
Reporting: This position reports directly to the Managing Attorney or designated other.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Develop and preserve working relationships with clients; understand and respect client goals. Prepare clients for realistic outcomes of a case.
Conduct and prepare legal research for legal proceedings on behalf of clients.
Prepare correspondence, affidavits and legal documents on behalf of clients.
Prepare and file pleadings on behalf of clients.
Prepare and file briefs and motions in court on behalf of clients.
Prepare and obtain discovery on behalf of clients.
Prepare for and participate in hearings and trials on behalf of clients.
Maintain current, working knowledge of the Washington State Court Rules of Professional Conduct.
Ensure client files are up-to-date and organized.
Lead team of Paralegals and Administrative Assistants on a case-by-case basis.
Operate personal vehicle when necessary to conduct company business.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Strong business math skills (including basic Algebra).
Highly proficient in web browsers and internet searches; proficient in Microsoft Office, Acrobat Pro, Windows 10, and web-based conferencing. Ability to learn new software.
Comfortable with answering phones, and office machines.
Work independently and as part of a team. Demonstrate understanding that simple tasks need to be accomplished regardless of professional capacity, role or title.
Education and Experience:
Juris Doctor from an accredited law school. Or successful completion of the APR 6 program.
Must have passed the Bar Exam and be Licensed to practice law in Washington State.
Law School graduates with Diploma Privileges due to COVID-19 and Law School graduates who are preparing to take the Bar Exam during the upcoming cycle may also be considered.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to move or transport up to 20 pounds as needed.
Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time.
Ability to position self as needed for routine office work such as accessing filing cabinets or using the phone; ability to operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
Ability to be mobile as related to business needs.
